late night rambling

I’m sitting here when I should be in bed.  I’m exhausted!  It’s been a long week and it’s only Tuesday.

It’s funny how you can be so tired, but you can’t seem to turn your brain off.  The moment your head hits the pillow, it’s like a switch is flipped and everything you did, have to do or may do tomorrow runs rampant through your mind.

Tonight’s focus is my daughter’s 18th birthday is coming up Thursday.  She’s leaving for college in a couple of weeks (fortunately, she’s only half an hour away) and she’s staying in the dorm.  She’s so excited, but I’m still having a hard time with the fact that she’s all grown up and doesn’t need me anymore.  I’m used to having her with me every night, that is, when she’s not working or hanging out with her friends.  I do have to say that I’m so very happy that she’s turned into such an awesome young lady.

She has friends, real friends…  the ones that would do anything for her and be there for her in an instant if she needed them.  They are all a pretty great group of kids…  well, young adults.  I love them for loving her the way they do.

And I’m really excited that she’s starting this new chapter of her life.  She’s going to experience so many new things, the possibilities are endless.  Of course, she’s so smart, and she’s decided to major in Biology because she wants to become a doctor.  A doctor, imagine that…  my daughter is going to be a doctor one day.

Besides being smart and having awesome friends, she’s absolutely gorgeous.  I may be a little biased.  Ha ha!  But she’s just the kind of girl that makes you proud to be a mother.  It’s a great feeling knowing that you raised your child to be an independent and productive member of society.  Her beauty is just the icing on the cake.  LOL

I just hope and pray that she knows that I couldn’t be more proud of her.  I love her with all my heart and will always be there for her.  No matter where she is, she’s always in my heart and mind.
